About The Center For Movement Weymouth
The Center For Movement is located in Weymouth, MA, nestled in the beauty and nature of Weymouth’s historic Herring Run at 14 Iron Hill Street.
The Center For Movement is a member of the Green Yoga Association. Our studio is designed in an eco-friendly way – with as little negative impact on the environment as possible. Design features include: low voc paints, cork floors, nontoxic yoga mats, and sustainable and organic chemical free yoga props. We are 100% committed to the health and well being of our students and guests.
We are a cooperative of fitness professionals, yoga teachers and holistic health practitioners working together to bring new and innovative classes and trainings that not only enrich our students with better health and well being but the community as well.
Our studio is a beautiful space filled with healing energy and wonderful students.
The Center For Movement was founded by Licensed Physical Therapist Assistant , A.C.E. Trainer and Kripalu Yoga Teacher Jan Powers Murray, a native of Weymouth.

The Center for Movement ~ Weymouth is committed to delivering safe and meaningful fitness training and wellness education to the community and its students.
I was fitness professional for 15 years. When I came to BodyStrong Boston 3 years ago to train with Jan, I was injured, unmotivated and bored with gyms.
Jan Murray’s method of fitness has changed not only my body, but my outlook on life. She is so genuine in her caring about each person that walks into her studio that I found myself motivated to exercise for the first time in a long time. Jan is bringing so many wonderful things to the South Shore community……Ballet for the adult learner, Restorative Yoga, the Trunk Training method, where she uses a variety of tools to help keep a person in perfect spinal alignment while they are exercising.
As a 54 year old woman, I value Jan’s knowledge of the body and her ability to apply that to a class setting where everyone feels valued and safe. When I began working out at BodyStrong Boston, I had a very injured shoulder with hips and knees that hurt most days. My body now moves with ease and I look forward to exercising because BodyStrong Boston is more than a work out studio, it is a community where everyone feel welcome!

My wife and I have been taking exercise classes for decades – from gym environments to having a personal trainer come to our house. BodyStrong Boston was referred to us about a year ago. My wife started first then I joined in March, 2015. What a great decision I made by listening to my wife!
Jan Murray is tremendously motivating, caring and knows the body’s way. We take her strength & conditioning & yoga classes. She not only models the positions and motions, but explains the cause-and-affect of each movement. She watches us closely and gives touch cues so we can come into proper alignment, use the targeted muscle group, or feel what part of the body should be activated. Every time the workout is varied and challenging in a good way. Dance classes are offered on Fridays, and we take those classes too!
The camaraderie of all the people attending Jan Murray’s classes is unbelievable. We all know each other by name and new people are welcomed in. New friendships have formed through walks in nature, informative health talks, after exercise socializing,and holiday gatherings.

Jan’s classes are so much more than your typical exercise class. For me, it feels like personal training sessions in a group setting. She identifies your weaknesses and helps you to gain strength in those areas in a safe way. This personalized approach, along with Jan’s genuine and compassionate personality, make it hard to stay away once you experience it. I believe once word gets out about her new studio, BodyStrongBoston, there will be a waiting list to get into a class. That may be good news for Jan, but not for those who hesitated to sign up.
